About Us

The idea of creating Nyarkenyi Develoment Foundation of Alberta (NDFA) emerged in 2008 when a group of individuals from the Bari Tribe came together to discuss how to strengthen community groups and increase public participation in defining and solving issues facing the community. These discussions led to the development of a participatory process that enabled the South Sudanese-Canadians and communities of the Central McDougall/Queen Mary Park and Northeast Edmonton to voice their views and concerns about children, youth, adults and senior’s activities.

The group has also come up with ideas to help their mother country (South Sudan) by providing new schools, health care centers, clean water, community centers, agricultural initiatives and support for small business development (Cooperative Business)
