Sanitation Program

Access to safe water and sanitation are closely linked. WASH, which stands for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, is an essential development goal. According to the WHO report mentioned above, 2 billion people lack access to basic sanitation; one-third live in the least developed countries, and most are from rural areas. This matters because inadequate sanitation is linked to diseases such as intestinal infections. Good sanitation systems, toilets, and hygiene education are examples of sanitation-focused humanitarian aid.
